Tourism in Russia: the wilderness of Chara in Siberia

In the world there are a lot of interesting places, visiting which are charged with positive emotions for a long time. I must say that there are a lot of such places on the territory of Russia, which made tourism very popular here.

Siberia and tourism in this region

Of particular interest to tourists are objects that are in Siberia, but there are a lot of them. There are megalithic complexes and incredibly beautiful mountains, from which the blue rivers descend. Here is one of the deepest lakes in the world — Lake Baikal. This freshwater lake is revered by tourists for its beauty, clean water and beautiful landscapes that surround it. There are a lot of legends and stories connected with this lake, which are transmitted by word of mouth to local residents.

Chara desert in Siberia

As already mentioned above, Siberia is very rich in different sights, both natural and man-made, so tourism is very well developed here. Here tourists come from all over the world, not to mention the inhabitants of Russia. And it’s not accidental — anyone who does not want to look at one of the biggest rivers in Eastern Siberia — the Angara. This majestic river originates from Lake Baikal, from which it bursts in a stream a little more than a kilometer away.

Just imagine how exciting it is to travel to these places. What is worth strolling along the shores of Lake Baikal, surrounded by magnificent natural scenery. Here you and the mountains, and rocks, and rivers, in general, everything that only the soul wants. In addition, a number of reserves have been created around the lake — this is the Baikal-Lensky Reserve, which is located on the north-western coast, and the Baikal Reserve, which is located mainly in the Kabansky District of the Republic of Buryatia.

For the sake of justice, it must be said that Lake Baikal is not the only landmark of Siberia. There are many other places of interest created by nature, for example, the desert of Chara. This unique corner of Russia is famous for the fact that the desert here, in the full sense of the word, is only in the summer, in the winter the same dunes are covered with ordinary snow, no different from what we see when driving through the capital in a taxi in the South-Eastern Europe — Moscow …

In winter, the desert is covered with a thick layer of snow and is no different from the surrounding landscapes. But only the snow comes down, the sand dunes appear on the sun. I must say that the dunes are pretty serious and in the center reach a height of 80 meters, although at the edges they are not more than 30 meters, but for such a mini desert, these are very serious indicators. It must be understood that all this only looks like a desert, because here you will not feel the fifty-degree heat and wearisome transitions. Visiting such places, you understand how interesting the world of tourism can be.
